I'm not going to speak about Native reserves because I know they are sovereign land and I don't know enough about those places to know if non-Natives can live on a server, but aside from that those places there are no involuntary restrictions on where you can and cannot live in Canada.

Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development Canada allows individual band councils to create membership policies, as such an all-encompassing answer does not exist. That said, membership policies almost always allow status, non-status, and straight up non-aboriginals to become accepted into a band and live on a reserve. I'm aware of a status man whose non-aboriginal common-law wife and her non-aboriginal three children (their father passed away) who all live on a reserve together as an example. A contrary example, Mohawks do not allow non-Mohawks to live on Mohawk land. The Mohawk community is far from consensus on whether that's a positive policy, however.

I do not believe a single answer to this question exists.

I see some residential segregation as rooted in discrimination, such as landlords unwilling to rent to certain tenants.

I also see voluntary segregation. An immigrant choosing to never learning English implies voluntary segregation.
