Ultra Street Fighter IV gets arcade release date and images of new fighters
Update coming to US and EU sometime after April.

Ultra Street Fighter IV, the update to Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition, will be coming to North American and European consoles soon after the game releases to Japanese arcades in April 2014. According to Capcom, the console release will hit before EVO 2014, the fighting game eSports event taking place July 11-13, 2014.

A post on the official Capcom Unity blog says that the longer than expected wait has to deal with integrating the 20,000 plus comments from fans about what to include in the game as well as honing new features such as Red Focus, Ultra Combo Double, and other new modes that will be introduced in the coming months.

Ultra Street Fighter IV will be available as an add-on for current owners of Super Street Fighter IV for $14.99 or as a standalone title for $39.99. Check out a few action shots below of some of the new characters announced for the update earlier this year.

A new update called Ultra Street Fighter IV has been announced for release in early 2014 at the 2013 Evolution Championship Series. The game will be released in Japanese arcades on April 2014, followed by a summer 2014 digital release for consoles in Europe and North America.[87] The update will be distributed as both a paid downloadable update and a standalone retail game.[88]
Alongside the usual balance changes, the update is to introduce six new stages, and five new characters: Rolento, Elena, Hugo and Poison (all four of which had been featured in Street Fighter X Tekken), in addition to an unrevealed new character never before seen in the Street Fighter series.[89] It has been revealed that despite some of the new characters having been been recently featured in X Tekken, their gameplay mechanics will be substantially different to go with the game's pace.[87] Based on fan feedback, the update would remove all unblockable moves.[90] Also, it adds a new move called Red Focus, similar to the regular Focus move, but having more invincibility hits.[90] Finally, it adds what's called Double Ultra, which spends the whole Ultra bar to deliver a character's two Ultra moves in quick succession, each dealing a damage slightly lower than that of a regular Ultra.[90] Also new to the game is a "delayed wakeup" mechanic, which allows a knocked down player to slightly lengthen the time before the character gets back up.[91] Before the release of the game, Capcom intends to set up test locations to gather fan feedback to be taken into account for the final product.
