Yeah also I think the acquisition hurt his ego as defensively they do very similar things. You may think that Dwight is some defensive monster but since his injury you can clearly tell he's not what he used to be, therefore the gap between their defensive skills has narrowed.
He's also a valuable center in today's NBA, and he would be great for other teams, just imagine if he never left Chicago what the defensive juggernaut that would be.
