I have the mini's in mine too (5.0 i think) and they are worth it. Spent 1/4 what the other guys are with their tsx/fx projectors etc and light output is pretty decent. The newest ones may have some more improvements though.
For your lights dimming, did you check the engine block ground? Transmission ground?
