There's no use arguing about it, OP made his mind, and we'll see what his supervisor said.
Like i said in my company it was black and white. whether you missed twice a month or once a year, note needed for sick day pay. A lot of companies just run on policy is policy, and do not budge, no matter how sympathetic or real the situation may seem.
