You will be using 1 of the 3 smaller slots on the top of your picture. Which are PCIE X1.. the long one is for X16.
PCIE can support more power than USB dongles so in theory you can get better reception.. also by nature USB devices eat into CPU cycle time.
However I would also get the model number of your landlord's router. No point buying the highest power one if you are stuck with 802.11g or b.
