Hey man, to do it properly you do have to weld. The old muffler has to be removed and properly measure the space for the new muffler to make sure there is no clearance or angle issues. DO NOT JUST CLAMP IT IN PLACE! Weld it. That being said, it will not sound overly nice with the R18 engine, it will turn out sounding like what we call a "fart can". I would say that if you aren't going to shell out for a decent exhaust than get even a cheap ebay catback, it will sound better than the ractive muffler alone and give a bit better power but not much.
