You don't want to think she got the message though, you want to know, and you want a response. How are you going to get a proper response if you don't outright ask her the question? Don't talk too much about feelings growing and all that fluff, just be like, "I have a great time whenever I'm with you, I was wondering if you wanted to go out on a date with me?" It's not a date, until its a date. You guys have been friends so asking her to hang out more often is just a sign you want to hang out with her as a friend.
