This may or may not be smart -- some cars have an auto-alarm that arms so even if the door is unlocked, if the alarm is armed the alarm will sound whereas simply smashing the window and reaching in prevents the alarm from going off in almost all factory alarms
i drive my honda most of the time, there's a lock on the interior trunk release that I keep locked, as well as a lock on the rear folding seats that I keep locked. Any valuables get thrown in the trunk and nothing's left inside except for shitty CD's and mcdonalds wrappers
