You gotta start somewhere. Buy your proper gear, you need it for the street anyways. You don't need the most expensive stuff, find some gear on ebay, craigslist.. etc. I just bought a nearly new 1 piece on ebay for a little over $300.00.
then move onto lessons,

You don't want to know what I spend on racing and track days. If you're interested in becoming a better rider I suggest hitting the track somewhere, sometime. Even if you don't take lessons you will learn a lot.. a lot more than you would on the street. Personally if you've never done a track day and are a new rider the best place to upgrade you skills on the cheap is out at Pitt Meadows.
