From my research, I found that buying from the US let me get a better stone, at a better price, than I would have been able to get here. But... the dollar has been suffering lately, so that may no longer be the case. If it gets up to par again, might be something to consider.
Personally, if I HAD to choose somewhere local, I wouldn't go somewhere where you know the name from advertising. I don't give a shit about ads or marketing or hype. I'd rather they just provide quality service and quality product, rather than charging a premium so they can afford shitty advertising or leases in Metrotown or at prime spots downtown.
