If you compare to boxing and when someone like Mayweather fights, he gets 30+ million while someone like GSP or Jon Jones gets a fraction of that with the same or more risk than boxers.
According to this article GSP made 9 million last year but he fought 2-3 times.

UFC is different, for one it's essentially operating on a Monopoly, they really have no competition. It's also a very new sport compared to boxing. I would also say that in terms of the aesthetics of the sport boxing is still more understandable to really really common folk. And you're comparing their pay to ATHLETES, for real people money they make a lot. You can't really compare them to any other major sport because of the infrastructure already in place in sports like MLB, NBA etc, just their TV deals alone are worth billions.
