Meh all the pearls and stuff were around before except not offered thru dyc or places like that. people that dip have been adding pigments to the dip for awhile now. you can do lots of custom colours and random things with it. hell I mixed some glow in the dark clear the other day.
DYC is just making it a lot easier for the first timer to do it all without the guess work
