Yeah I've heard cichlid tank = no plants. But part of me is determined to try and make it work. That's a good point regarding the sand. In my old tank I had way more sand that was "aquascaped" by my blue zebra. Everyday I would come home to a new mountain of sand somewhere haha. I will do that today.
Do you have any recommendations where to get that wood?
I'm also concerned about my 2 jewels. Had them for a week now and they haven't eaten / shown interest until yesterday when I bought/tried bloodworms as an alternative from flakes.
Problem with bloodworms is all the other cichlids are so greedy, it's hard to sprinkle them to get the jewels fed without fearing overfeeding everyone else.
