Thanks to everyone who showed up yesterday. It was awesome to meet new faces and seeing familiar ones. Thanks to Tommy for fanning out the message to you all so last minute.
I hope you enjoyed the food and drinks and I hope that you now have a better understanding of the efforts and lengths that Revscene staff go through "behind the scenes" to ensure the car enthusiast community has a fun and safe time at these meets.
Some of the perks I will be aiming for for you as a traffic ambassador are:
1. official RS spring shirt - please submit your sizes if you haven't already. Last call is tomorrow, Tuesday March 25th noon, for a claim on your shirt for your services. We need confirmation that you will be there to help volunteer from 8am - 3pm.
2. food - food voucher or discount at food trucks* (*details to be worked out)
3. RS Certificate of Service Award - signifying your volunteer contribution. Good for your own collection and for job resumes.
As for key take home points from volunteer meeting:
1. Please bring an FR-S radio if you can. We really need as many as we can get, so please help us out.
2. Give the troublemakers the "VIP" treatment. That is, Vehicle. Incident. Person. Record the details of each and forward to Admin staff to be forwarded to ICBC, Parks board or Police. If you see anything suspicious, start writing down the info.
3. Paid vendors. Yes, it is a public lot, but we have rented the lot from the area we had discussed at Blitzgear HQ. So if you see unapproved advertising or selling, you report to us and we can escort them out, or call police to assist.
4. Remember you are not police officers. But word is that Police will be surveying and scoping things out. Some of our members are police officers, on and off duty. If you spot one of them, send them over to me and I will buy them food. We will take care of them
