Sounds like you're afraid to hear the answer and at the same time you don't think the answer would matter. If it truly doesn't matter, then don't ask. If you're feeling uncomfortable and the wondering doesn't go away, then talk to her about how you're feeling before it starts to eat away at you and you start making up possible scenarios in your head that may or may not be true. If it were me I'd probably say "hey, I noticed you were texting with ____ yesterday, how's he doing? It's been a while since you worked together"....just try to be casual and not accusatory.
