I think random drops will be the new normal for these types of restocks, just like the Red October release.
What I don't get is how their site reports inventory. To me something should either be available to add to cart (and successfully checkout given a preset time limit like Ticketmaster) OR it should not be available. I checked a few different shoes yesterday and some were not available, others the link was dead, some had sizes that never changed (but could not be added to cart), others had fluctuating sizes (reducing, increasing and then finally gone).
Some may argue that its more fair with a random drop, really comes down to luck of the draw, you don't have millions of people and bots waiting for the pre-announced drop. Just Nike's lazy way to weed out bots... maybe an online raffle is the way to go, register online with your Nike account, choose your size, pre-auth your card and they will ship to the lucky randomly selected winners.
