that's a good thing, cigarettes have tar + toxins that cause the cilia in your throat/lungs to stop working (nicotine actually acts to stimulate the cilia, making them beat faster, but thats obviously counteracted by all the other shit in cigarettes) -- so it would make sense that all the years of shit is coming up.
I used to smoke, stopped long time ago, then started vaping because I was stressed + really wanted to smoke again. I have started to notice some phlegm problems but I think that's mostly because of the season (allergies and whatnot)
edit: I've been reading and drinking more water/staying hydrated might help. Try drinking water when you vape see if it helps?
