Messi is a class act. He doesn't dive. He even tosses the ball to his oppositions hands when it was their throw in... Most players would toss it aside.
If only Di Maria played

While I agree, an injured Di Maria likely wouldn't do much. A healthy Di Maria would've made a substantial difference, however Argentina would've still been relying on Higuain/Aguero to put Di Maria crosses into the net.
Perhaps that extra threat on the wing opens up some room for Messi. Unfortunately, we didn't get to see how that would've turned out.
As I said earlier, my two favorite players were in the final which kept me interested. While I'm happy to see Ozil and the Germans win playing some attractive football, it would've be so much better had Messi stepped out of Maradona's shadow.
2014 is already lauded as the best WC in the modern era by some pundits. Judging by some of the performances by individuals (the usuals plus the guys like James Rodriguez who used this tourny as a coming out party) as well as teams like Costa Rica, I would tend to agree. So many great stories out of this WC. And to balance out the good, there were the very tragic stories of Neymar and the Brazillians, as well as the funny with Suarez pulling a biting three-peat on Chiellini.
At least Euros are only 2 years away. I can see Germany pulling in 3 consecutive major tournaments like the Spanish did prior to 2014. 4 years is always a long wait, but since it always coincides with the Winter Olympics it doesn't seem to be too long of a wait.
