SATA cables are pretty straight forward. Just plug one end to the motherboard and the other to the drive.
Some motherboards have certain ports that run on a different controller, which in your case could cause troubles if this is your first time booting it up. Try different ports and see.

tried all 6 ports for both hdd and ssd with 2 different sata cables.. no luck. Starting to think mobo (z87x-ud3h) might have a problem with detecting drives. WOuld NCIX take my PC in to finish the build?
