its one of those things if you get it and you need it you'll be grateful. But if you didn't get it and it does go wrong, you'll be kicking yourself.
I got the 1st gen 15"macbook Pro and I didn't get the student discount that you have cause my AppleCare cost more than that. For me I'm grateful cause in my 2nd year I had a dead pixel got it replaced in a day I was pretty happy about that. But that's just my 2 cents at the end of the day its a gamble.
