accord v6 2004 automatic slipping gear problem

sup guys, so I have an accord and the gears are not locking in when starting to drive up a small hill or on the highway up to 80km it slips in and out. I am assuming a gear is fried again but the first time I had a tranny problem, the tranny did make a loud whining noise. The transmission is not making any small noises this time and it does pop into gear still. Is there anything I can do? would a transmission flush help? The guy is asking for 1500 to rebuild..
