Yeah I ended up going italian sporting goods, $20 later they had the pin removed and mounted the gas chamber into the new housing
I can see why people bitch about surplus SKS' taking forever to clean -- it took me and a friend half a day with a steam cleaner to completely get all the nasty grease off, and I didn't even bother cleaning the stock -- just put the new tapco one on there
Just finished cleaning and lubing it and it's ready for the range. Next up is bayonet mount bipod, front foregrip, rubber recoil buffer, and a sight -- can't decide whether to go red-dot or red-dot with zoom

must say, this hobby is addicting
