a guy i dated for a good number of years decided to end things because he couldn't figure out how to deal with the cultural differences between us. the issue wasn't between him and me, it was the family and their perception of me because i'm an outsider to them. family perceptions matter unless you don't give a fuck about what your parents think.
sticking out with the girl is fine but you need figure out where your parents' hatred is coming from and how to diffuse it. 7 months isn't a short time but it isn't very long either so if you know things aren't going to improve or foresee it going south, it's better to end things now than waste each other's time and emotional investment.
