These '63' cars are notorious for engine issues - It is what kept me away from buying one. It seems as if AMG fucked up in a few key areas when developing their first production engine - as opposed to previous AMG engines which were just modified Mercedes engines. One problem is the head bolts can stretch or even snap. The other problem is the cams wear on the lifters due to the soft iron camshafts wearing on the harder steel lifters - adding to this is the engines aren't lubricated properly during cold starts.
2010+ cars as well as all of the SLS AMGs seem to have all of these these issues solved.
