Despite not knowing DHL Express was going to be used for shipping, and I had to pay a mandatory $27, at least they were very quick.
I preordered on Oct 27 and was given a 4-6 week estimation time. OnePlus too their sweet time during this process, but shipped it out on Nov 13, and my phone was here already on the 14th (Friday). (3 weeks, not bad!) Except I wasn't home, so I went to their site to redirect them to my my work address. Process was so easy online, I was a bit skeptical. I was expecting a confirmation email or some sort from DHL, but sure enough, I received my phone this afternoon at work.
I haven't opened it yet... but reading about all these buggy issues scare me. I've been lurking on the OnePlus forums as well. I don't recall if Samsung phones had this much complaining, or if OPO just have a bunch of bad batches from the factory.
I'm sure overall, people with issues are a small percentage. But still, with that many people complaining, if 10% of OPO owners have issues, that's actually pretty bad. The only 2 friends I know that have the OPO. One of them wants to sell it already. And the other said he's mostly happy with it, but he's being patient and putting faith in the future updates to fix some things.
None the less, they told me this after I made my pre-order, so I can only hope for the best. I'll share a review/my experience in a few weeks.
I hope I don't regret going with OPO.... It was nice to save money, but I wouldn't have had any problem forking out the extra cash to get the S5 or a Nexus. But I admit, I just wanted to feel "exclusive"
