Loved Thailand. Disliked Vietnam. Maybe because I'm not white so I was not targeted, but if I don't like the price, I just walk away.
However, in Vietnam, you have even the taxi cab scamming you with inaccurate meters. You can tell all the wars and communism made the country 20 years behind.
