Waiting for paint to cure and parts to show up so I decided to get rid of the old sound deadening. At first glance it was in great shape but some areas were no longer stuck to the floor and I wanted to see what was hiding beneath.
Spoiler!
Who needs carpet?
What is this underlay, burlap? lol
Some areas had lost their adhesion after 43 years and peeled off easily.
I couldn't wait for dry ice so went ahead and chipped away at the 40% that didn't come off easily. The rust on the drivers footwell is purely on the surface and won't need anything more than a wire wheel to clean up nicely. After cleaning up the residue, I'll hit it with POR15.
Pulled out over 22lbs. I haven't decided if I'm going to install new sound deadener or not. If I do, it'll be more to keep the floor from getting to hot than anything else.
