I can respect physical work that is well done regardless of whether I like the style, however I won't respect a car that is poorly done just because the owner likes it. With simpler cosmetic mods (like stickers) it comes down to personal tastes, and if someone can't handle somebody not agreeing with their tastes then they should take the bus.
This same stuff applies to my cars, for example I put bright red mudflaps on my GTFour. I know that there's no way in hell everyone here will like that look (some of my friends and family sure don't) and I fully expect at least some of you think they look terrible. IMO it's better to tell people straight up you don't like something and hear a variety of opinions than to live in some bs fantasy land where people only say nice things.
