As I mean nothing for Honda, I mean nothing like IMS, RMS, Rod Bearing, etc will happen one day. Opps, you are out of 15k+ for a new engine. Ask me how I know having those sleepless nights worrying about next day my car won't start and drill a deep hole on my wallet....

Same thing. I learned the hard way about the valve retainers. I got lucky and only had 12 bent valves out of 16 but none of the retainers broke where the valve dropped into the motor which would mean you would need to replace the motor. Unfortunately, I replaced it with AP1 parts and had to spend the money a second time or risk driving with a ticking time bomb engine. Oh yeah, replacing valve retainers means taking the head off and if the head comes off, you are replacing the head gasket and getting the head machined so it isn't quite cheap and it really isn't preventative maintenance.
With time, AP1 retainers will fail, just like your porsche examples.
Same thing goes for the CV cups.
After everything is said and done, the $11,500 S2000 is becoming a money pit.
