Considering OP is on Revscene, I'm sure OP is a car enthusiast just like anyone else here.
If OP is strictly looking for a grocery getter, then I'd suggest getting one of these soccer moms' vans.
Here are good compromise between hauling kids and still being a car enthusiast.
Mitsubishi Delica, Toyota Sienna, Nissan Quest with Elgrand conversion.
