Hah that's almost the exact reason I started (I'm doing Tough Mudder which is a month before wedding, so it's a double whammy).
Also something to note- make it a habit to stretch after running. Start at ankles and move your way up. Foam roll if you have one lying around as well. Your body will not only thank you in the long run, but it will help you recover from general tightness/soreness after runs.
