So I was riding home on 160 St. When I noticed a crowd off the side of the road the other way including a Ninja 600. I turned around to see if everything was ok and they asked if I could lend a screwdriver which I pulled out from my bike. The guy tried to loosen up the front brake. Then I noticed the rider had a 3 square inch portion of skin torn off his hand and also his jeans on the same side torn and more skin off there and realized this guy went down. Apparently his brakes suddenly locked up without him touching it, enough to lock up that front wheel, and down he went.
Has anyone ever heard of this happening? I was down at the brakes looking for anything that may have somehow caught and got stuck in there. I don't see how the brakes could've locked up that badly by itself otherwise. The guy also has aftermarket handlebars and he said it did have some lock up problems before.
Also a reminder to everyone, ATGATT. This guy was just a block away from his house when he went down. He slid far enough that about half an inch of brake lever and handlebar was gouged right off, it's lucky he didn't lose more than just skin.
