FR-S can't go fast enough or put enough tire to the ground to really worry about it I'd bet. I did a driving school on my OEM pads with PSS and my ride in instructor was saying how "set up" my car felt in the corners. If we were out there driving in the A group pushing hard I'd agree, but I doubt people with our experience level (and sense) are really going to outdrive our brakes. I'm not cowboying it out there, and I doubt MB is going to in his fresh new car.
I don't disagree with you that better brakes are always a better thing, but they aren't likely a necessity unless he drives his car 11/10ths like an autocross.
