Does this work if you can't enter the passcode on your phone?

Broke my ip5 today and was force to pick up a ip6 and at the moment I am still struggling to restore the phone from backup.

I need access of my sms message and photo on the old phone. The screen is mess up, touch still works but the display is completely scrambled. I got it to sync with the computer with turning on voice over with Siri and than blinding pressing it till it unlock and trust the computer it was plug into. But it won't shut up with the notification so I turn it off with Siri again. I'm not confident I can get it to work again now?...

So long story short is it possible to extract the sms and photos from my old phone and somehow get it on to the new 6 without going thru iTunes?
