Do you use trekking poles at all? If you don't, you should definitely try them out. I fell in love with them after trying them out, and now I wouldn't be caught dead without them on a hike.
They transfer so much of the workload away from your legs, knees, and back to your arms and shoulders. I'd even go as far as making the claim that they enable me to last easily 2x as long on a hike than without, and I get a far more balanced workout to boot.
(Now, if I could only find the same magic bullet that would make me last 2x as long in this other kind of activity that I regularly engage in... that would be golden.
