Why you would want to buy this car:
  • Great steering feel and driving dynamics for a family sedan (has double wishbones!)
  • Good visibility and well laid out interior with controls that feel high quality (esp the turn signal stalk, but NOT the gear level)
  • Great bucketish seats
  • Very helpful community at Drive Accord

Why you wouldn't want to buy this car:
  • Interior is put together on a budget - there will be annoying rattles at times
  • The windows will also rattle, the seals need to be greased with Shin Etsu
  • Suspension is stiffer than 6th gen by a good margin, with no real increase in performance
  • Absolutely garbage headlights
  • Not as quiet as a Camry on the highway

With regards to the transmission, here's what you need to know
  • 3rd gear is the one that commonly fails
  • Rebuilts often don't last as long as the original transmission
  • Honda had a recall and added cooling jets to the 2nd gear clutch pack for certain 03 models
  • There is an easily accessible canister filter that you can replace
  • It is recommended to drain and fill the tranmission fluid ever 2 years / 30k.
  • -1 drain and fill gets you 42% new fluid, 2 drains - 68%, 3 drains - 82%
  • -On all cars, it is recommended to replace the 3rd and 4th gear pressure switches, this is pretty easy to do and costs ~$150. This makes a big difference on the earlier cars that use the same switches as the 6th gen transmissions

When you check out the car, see that the valve adjustment was done at 160ks (should've been a part of the major service) along with timing belt, belt tensioner, waterpump, etc. Check for vin tags on all doors, hood, and trunk. Also drive around and make sure there aren't any clunks when turning - bushings on double wishbones up front might be shot.

Aux adapter can be added for ~100.
Just to add on / reply to

Pros
-v6performance has a lot of good guys that can give you tips as well
-v6 has a lot of power for the car and it sounds great with an intake / exhaust
-comfortable back seats even in the coupe

Cons
-I have two 2007 accords one at 120k and another at 140km I have ZERO rattles, I made sure all the clips that hold on the interior trim pieces are never broken and if they are I replace them.
-I can't say much about suspension as I repalced both of my cars with Tein Coilovers, and headlights with projectors but both are simple to do to improve the overall experience

As a resident accord fan boy I would say a couple things

-yes the transmission are weak however if you get a good one you're pretty good to go.
(I had a 6th gen 1999 accord v6 with 140km when I sold it with no problems, a 2007 with 140km with no problems)
-Redline transmission fluid is something the TL community suggested, since switching I feel no issues
-there are ways to help the tranny, get 3rd and 4th gear pressure switches and clean the filter, could be done for under 100 bucks and really help
-for the price that its asking for I would say that's not a bad deal

At the end of the day any car can be good/bad depending on how the previous owner treats it. I had a 2003 Accord with a k24 before and that had issues, transmission wouldn't shift smooth. I replaced the transmission fluid, performed the drain and fill three times and it ran like a champ.
