Despite the rage over Japanese whiskey, non-traditional countries have been pumping out some high quality scotch and whiskey over the past few years (re: Kavalan from Taiwan etc.)
I would never hesitate to try something new, especially if it's from a the more well known distillers. I'd give it a go.
