I'm about to start my research on Thailand as I'll be there for approx. a week with the wife in April, and the only info I have is from watching Anthony Bourdain's Parts Unknown episode on Thailand (

Is Thailand generally safe to visit? From some of the travel websites I've glanced over is that it's beaches are nice, food is cheap and great and the people are generally friendly.
Also, any good suggestions on places to visit?
