You are bang on! The Balvenie 12 Doublewood is absolutely DELICIOUS and has been my go-to sipper for the last 3 years! Infact I love the entire Balvenie line, by far my favourite company for whiskey.
However it is listed as $90.99 at BC Liquor stores which is over the $75 price range I mentioned in my earlier post.

I still haven't (not sure I ever will) developed the palette for such a strong peaty whiskey yet.
Yeah the preference is totally subjective, but I do stand by my point that for $32.99 (3 bucks more than before) it is still one of if not THE best whiskey bang for buck. If they jacked up the price to $50+ then I will have to reconsider and most likely stick to my beloved Balvenie lol.
