Can't agree enough with the two posts above that part of the apparent "advantage" of buying vs. renting is because of the fact that buying is not only forced savings, but also forced leverage for those not paying in cash (albeit at a very favourable interest rate).
Ran the calculation in my head but came with same result! WOO!.

Renting the same unit iam in is 2400, vs buying the unit 750 000,
Renting won by a land slide?
