For more detail, I picked the PSS because it's the most popular performance tire right now.

265/40/18 has a section width of 10.7". That means the entire carcass, the tread width is 10.2". That means ideally, you would want a 10-10.5" wide wheel, the minimum I would want to run is a 9.5" wheel.

A properly fitted 255 will have more grip than a bulged 265.

Continuing with the PSS, the proper width for an 8.5" rim would actually be a 235... (9.3" section width, 8.6" tread width)

Stick with the 245s.
