The MK1 Escort rally car has the rear suspension changed from leaf springs to a 4-bar linkage with coil-overs. The four bar link boxes hang down below the car in a way which makes them perfect targets on rallies for rocks and other damage:
So, using all the skills taught to me in kindergarten I made some shapes...and welded them together.
Then attached them to the car.
The motor is trans were then put back in, and I started brainstorming the custom transmission mount I need to make. Also need to add some gussets to the car, so I cut out some crazy shapes from some steel, and will take them over to a buddies for bending before welding them in. Warwick (car owner) sorted out the shape/style for the transmission tunnel and made me a bristol-board mock-up of what he'd like to see. 10 days(?) until it supposedly leaves for the paint shop. Right.
Monday's plan? Whistler for a day of skiing :P
