Transmission mount on the Escort project is now complete. Didn't want to buy 20ft of tubing just to make the bushing mounts, so instead I cut down and bored out a 2.25" solid bar on the lathe into the size I needed.

Here's about 1/2 way into the machining of the first piece:


That's either a really cool new skateboard truck, or the beginnings of the mount. Bushings and my now completed custom tubing.


A bit of milling machine work, more welding and a few seconds with the arbor press later.


Everyone likes going back to grade 1 art class, on their back, under a car...


Plates and ears tacked into place. Following this photo, I cut the plates off the car and welded the ears to the plates on the bench.


Then bolted the plates back up, and welded them to the car where I could reach.


So now the engine and transmission can come out once again, so that I can weld all the way around the mounting plates.
