I am running some old Pirelli Dragon SuperCorsa's. I've done 2 school days at The Ridge and city ridden on them for parts of 2 summers and DD's them last year.
So far I've actually gotten decent mileage out of them, and they were race take off's too.
As for grip, this morning it was 8C and I had no issues taking the first decent speed right hander.
But I probably wouldn't want to drag the knees until you get some heat into the tires.
