Think about it this way. The nice feeling of getting a deal will subside. The tattoo however will stay with you forever.

This goes the other way around too. Putting a monetary price on tattoo is hard for many people as it is still seen as something of a product. But consider that it is the only thing that you can take to your grave the price seems irrelevant in the grand scheme of things.

Its not that you can't get great tattoo for free, or that great tattoo must be expensive. If you go into the tattoo thinking about what a great deal you are getting, you are complete missing the purpose of getting ink. Getting a deal doesn't matter when it comes to tattoo, You can't resell it and honestly it doesn't even come with bragging right, no one cares at all that you had a cheap tattoo just whether the tattoo looks cheap.

EDIT: as for the work, It OK, you can tell he is starting out, its not horrible but it not amazing. Ask yourself if its not free would you pay for it to be on your body forever? I think that should answer the question.
