behind LSH executing Brienne? In the show Brienne has become quite an engaging character, especially if they continue this Brienne and Tormund interaction.

As for Brienne's path in the books....

Her story is quite different in the books. She gets captured and Lady Stoneheart finds her with the sword Jaime gave her, Oathkeeper, and doesn't believe that Jaime has changed. Brienne is in love with Jaime. Pod gets hanged first. Lady Stoneheart orders Brienne to kill Jaime to prove her loyalty or be hanged. She refuses to kill Jaime and so is hanged and says one word as she is Dying.
It doesn't say she actually died though soooo the word she speaks could end with having her cut down and not dead.
