For longer rides, I usually bring an energy bar or two and a gel or two.
Pre-rides, especially for the longer rides, I eat a bowl of oatmeal and a banana for breakfast. Buy the steel cut oats! I like the texture of those better
I've resorted to the recipe below for energy bars and it tastes quite good actually.
As for gels, i'm a big fan of these Born Super Liquid Gels since they taste good but mainly because they're easy to consume since it has a liquid-like consistency. You can pick these up from Power2Max's office in North Vancouver. I believe they are the official distributors for this sports supplement among other things.
