Because they have horses and gryphons, duh
oh and the giant puppycat race.
Seriously though, I think it's easier to play an alliance character when you first start (they're mostly pretty and shiny). I started with an alli char and now have several horde ones on KJ. Plus on all the servers I've been on, they always seem to have an advantage in pvp.
