Masayoshi better be delivering something sublime for those prices.
As for ramen (Robson Public Market), the place is called Hida Takayama.
I tried a few of the ramen there. Most were really just meh.
The noodles were good (I think they do them in house?). I asked for them firm and thought that was spot on.
I liked their white sesame ramen, it's really good, however, since it's just that with few condiments, it's a very 1-dimensional bowl of noodle soup.
If I could do a half bowl portion, or split it with a friend, that would be perfect. But it's just heavy, and rich with no acid or textural difference to provide contrast. My palate got super bored after 5 bites.
Also added the pork jowl which isn't super soft like Santouka, it still has some bounce. Not quite my preference, but good too.
